March/April 2003
Dear Parishioners,
Since the end of the year 2000 we have been engaged in a new
initiative designed to help us make contact with every
Catholic Family in the Parish. We want to get to know
everyone in St. Margaret Mary's who belongs to our
community. We have therefore re-organised our parish
into smaller neighbourhood groupings and asked parishioners to
pop-in on their neighbours so we can get to know each other.
In the next few weeks someone will be calling at your house
from the parish. I ask you to make them welcome, they will be
quite nervous.
Before you hear any rumours, I want you to hear it from me
that this is not about getting anyone to go to church, nor is
it about collecting money. Our aim is very simple, we want to
bring everyone closer. We think it is the right time in all
our neighbourhoods to try and make our streets friendlier and
safer places. 40 per cent of your neighbours will be
Catholic, which means that we can really make a difference to
our areas if we just get to know each other a little
better. Already in the five areas that have been visited
so far, people have reported a change in atmosphere for the
better.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you will see why
we are engaged in this exiting project.
Yours faithfully,
Rev.Mark Moran.
